What was your reaction when Augustus told Hazel he was having a relapse? Did you see it coming, or did it surprise you?I wasn't expecting him to say he had a relapse but I wasn't surprised because I thought that he may be having some medical issues that he didn't inform the reader about, because he was having trouble walking, and climbing the steps when they went to the Anne Frank Museum.
What is the theme you got out of reading the book and why? The theme I got out of the book was, live life to the fullest and treat everyday like it's your last. After Augustus passes away in the end of the book I really thought about how you should never take any day for granted because you never know how numbered your days may be.
I believe that Isaac as a character provided imagery throughout the book. Especially towards the end when he tells Hazel that Augustus had started writing something for her, do you think this provides some sort of imagery, and if so how? I feel that Isaac did provide imagery in the book because when he told Hazel that Augustus had written something for her she knew it was something important and that she had to find it. She thought that it was the continuation of their favorite book, An Imperial Affliction. But once she found the writing, she found that it turned out to be an obituary that Augustus had wrote for her. Augustus and Hazel wanted to write each other obituaries.
How does the old swing set that Hazel sold show imagery about Augustus in the book? What does it tell you about Augustus’s soul when he longs for that old swing set? Well as I was reading the book I got that Augustus was very mature for his age, I thought that he had an old-soul. But when he longed for the old swing set it made me see that at heart he is still a kid. It shows that he is longing for that healthy worry free childhood that he never really had.
Do you think that anyone can relate to the theme of the book? How do you think that you can relate to it? Anyone can relate to the theme of the book because everyone should live their life to the fullest and treat everyday as spectacular as possible because it may be your last. After I finished reading the book it made me truly realize that you never know how numbered your days are. So you should really live your days to the fullest, and never take anything for granted.
The theme of the novel is Treat everyday like it's your last and live everyday to the fullest. Also, never take anything for granted.
